HOSMAC REDEFINE HEALTHCARE IN AFRICA

Hosmac India Pvt. Ltd. with operations in India and Dubai, and which counts UNICEF, WHO and European commission among its high-profile clients, is entering the African market.

The burgeoning population of African countries is faced with many challenges - health, food security, education, conflicts, etc. The poor health status of citizens across the continent in terms of disease burden, quality of health services and access to public health system has been particularly daunting. Now, all stakeholders - Governments, academia, development partners, national and international NGOs, hospital equipment suppliers, health and hospital consultants got together under the banner of Pan African Health Congress 2007 at the recently concluded event PAH - 2007 at Sandton Johannesburg on 18 - 19 September 2007. Visitors and stakeholders were pleasantly surprised to see a dominating presence of Hosmac India Pvt. Ltd., the Mumbai headquartered organisation, having pan-India and Middle East presence.

Healthcare Industry in India is on the fast growth path with liberalisation, opening up of insurance sector, improving economic indicators, increasing awareness amongst community for quality healthcare and the rapid wave of privatisation sweeping across all sectors. This has resulted in requirement of special skill sets to plan, execute and manage globally competitive healthcare infrastructure. Hosmac India Pvt. Ltd. is one such consulting organisation which has grown in a short span of 10 years to become one of leading crusaders of hospital planning and management concepts in India.

Hosmac has recently been awarded to set up a healthcare facility at Mumbai International Airport after an International competitive bidding process. Hosmac also bagged a business process improvement study for Agha Khan University, Nairobi, Kenya. The company sees a great potential in Africa and take this opportunity as a stepping-stone for creating a working relationship in the African market. Participation at the recently concluded event Pan African Health 2007 is seen as their first step to explore the African market.

The organisation is keen to start its operations in the region and is open to strategic alliances with local partners for developing synergy in the region.

"We feel that it is important to get a working relationship with the countries of African continent and adjoining region and get integrated with the team and efforts in Africa and be a part of healthcare development initiatives taking place in this part of the world" says Satish Kumar, Manager - Business Development. In addition, Hosmac is developing strategic partnership with Development Partners, International NGOs and other agencies for providing requisite technical support in implementation and monitoring & evaluation of Health Sector Programmes in the developing countries.

Hosmac now intends to capitalize on its skill sets and experience in the healthcare industry to expand its scope of services in India as well as abroad.

The company has a fully owned subsidiary set up in Dubai at Dubai Healthcare City. (Hosmac Middle East FZLLC). All the overseas businesses will be undertaken through their Middle East office. Hosmac is seriously looking at Business Process Outsourcing for healthcare architectural work from countries like the UK, US and other developed nations. This would be an opening up of new segment, - HDPO (Healthcare Design Process Outsourcing) says, Dr. Vivek Desai, Managing Director. In addition, Hosmac is keen to develop alliances and synergy for the Public Health Consultancy in developing countries.

Hosmac India Pvt Ltd handled more than 200 projects worth 6 billion INR and designed 3.5 million square feet of healthcare facilities as consultants. "With more than 1.7 lakh man-hours of management consulting expertise, Hosmac is all set to redefine the healthcare delivery solutions in India and abroad" adds Dr. Desai.

Started in 1996 with a mere 180 sq ft space with market research and feasibility studies as main consulting assignments, the company has come a long way. From this year, it has started new offices in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Bhopal and Dubai.
