The conviction
and commitment to move towards a larger goal of taking care
of people, their health, environment and the community at
large, protecting and nurturing the weakest is what gave birth
to a not for profit organization, HOPES
- Help Organization for People, Environment & Society,
in November 2000. It was a logical extension to formalize
the charitable and environmental causes that its founders
were already involved in since 1995.
Some of the activities that HOPES is currently involved in
are to conduct biomedical waste management training programs
with implementation assistance (which we have successfully
implemented at various hospitals), to spread awareness amongst
public to sensitize them towards environment protection, empowering
them with tools and methods to search their own ways to protect
the environment; taken a major role in imparting education
even at the grass root level. The target audience has been
students, healthcare professionals, organizations, corporates,
and the general public. The organization has also taken up
market research work on various issues like healthcare scenarios,
need assessments on health care requirements of target consumers
etc. To derive and benefit from each other's collective strength
we also have a collaboration, and are a part of network of
almost 255 NGOs & grass root voluntary workers in almost
55 countries working on causes of safe environment and healthcare
practices.
Future plans of hopes involves setting up a documentation
cell and conducting research in various aspects of the Healthcare
scenario and delivery system in India.
Within a short span of one year, HOPES has been invited to
be on the advisory committee of Ministry of Environment and
Forest, Maharashtra state. |
