Dr. Vivek Desai
Managing Director, Hosmac
Dr. Vivek Desai – the founder of HOSMAC India Pvt. Ltd. – is a medical graduate with a post-graduation in hospital management and business management. His major areas of interest are strategic business planning, macro level project co-ordination and incubating new business ideas. He has been special invitee on major industry bodies like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and the Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC), among others. He has also worked as an advisor to the World Bank, USAID, Indian Ministry of Health etc.
Mr. Narendra Karkera
Director, Operations
Mr. Narendra Karkera is a Senior Advisor at HOSMAC. His 36 years of experience span an exposure to several industries apart from healthcare, including textile, electronics, and marine, to name a few. Over the last 22 years he has worked in the capacity of Senior Management at reputed hospitals like Hinduja, Lilavati, Manipal, and Welcare Hospital (Dubai). In addition, he has been associated in setting up a Medical College and Hospital in Dharwad. Mr. Karkera boasts a keen familiarity in costing, budgeting and setting up systems, procedures, and MIS in various industries and hospitals.
Ms. Sumedha Sen
Director, Business Development
Ms. Sumedha Sen has over 30 years of national and international experience in the hospitality market, 20 years of which is in the healthcare Industry, namely with Wockhardt, Woodlands and Fortis. Her experience with Public Health projects during her tenure as CEO EPOS Health Management and now as the Regional Head of HOSMAC brings with her the expertise in managing a super specialty state of the art chain of hospital. As the Director of Sales and International Business with Fortis, she gained a keen insight into the domestic market as well as international market for Medical Tourism.
Mr. Sameer Mehta
Director, Projects
Mr. Sameer Mehta, with his background in Commerce (Honours – Accountancy) and Finance and Masters in Healthcare Planning, is a facility planner by training with acquired learning in the fields of architecture and engineering as applied to the field of healthcare infrastructure and practices. The Business Head of Hosmac Projects, he anchors the strategic business units of Turnkey Design Services, Project Management Consultancy, Equipment Consulting Group and EPC (Build Services).
Mr. Hussain Varawalla
Mentor, Turnkey Design
A mentor in Design Services, Mr. Varawalla has been with Hosmac since way back in 1998. His comprehensive acquaintance with the field comes from his experience with healthcare architecture/provider firms such as Indian Hospitals Corporation; the consulting division of the Apollo Hospitals Group, Chennai; Asian Health Services Limited, Bengaluru; Health Facilities Planning, Cleveland, Ohio; and Reliance Health Ventures Limited, Mumbai. Apart from specialising in the conceptual and schematic architectural design of healthcare facilities, he also loves to read, write and listen to classic rock and roll.
Mr. Anooj Vakil
General Manger, Turnkey Design
Mr. Vakil has spent a decade of his 20 years of experience in architectural and interior designing in healthcare designing and execution. With 4 million sq. ft. of healthcare designing to his credit, his designs conform to the standards of the FGI (Facilities Guidelines Institute), which he owes to his 8 year international exposure while heading the design division of Hosmac's Middle East Unit at Dubai. At present, he is with Hosmac in the capacity of General Manager – Turnkey Design, guiding his team through various hospital projects.
Mr. Satish Bhalerao
General Manger, Project Services
Mr. Satish Bhalerao is an architect by profession who has done his thesis on General Hospitals. He has had exposure in designing all types of buildings – from hotels to industries. The complexity involved in the design of hospitals has always interested him. Fuelled by this passion, his career in designing a variety of hospitals spans over 11 years. He has extensive all-round knowledge of the healthcare field having worked on all aspects from designing to commissioning of hospitals all over India as well as a few overseas projects.
Ms. Nandini Shah
Manager, Architectural Services
Ms. Shah has over 14 years of experience in architecture design, planning and interior design. She holds 5 years of International Healthcare Design experience from Canada. While there, she was responsible for planning and working drawings for several complex departments as well as equipment co-ordination. She is a Certified Internal Auditor for ISO, and has undergone training in Green Building LEED certification program by IGBC. She has extensively worked on various Multi-Specialty Hospital projects at Hosmac.
Mr. Rakesh Mathur
Regional Manager, South India
Rakesh Mathur, the Regional Manager (South) with HOSMAC, has a wide range of experience in Hospital Administration and has worked for over 15 years with market leader Apollo Hospitals Group apart from starting a third party administrator company for Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad. He has managed hospitals for Apollo Group, Yashoda Group and Global Hospitals Group. He was part of the team that worked on the Transaction Advisory for Privatization of Diagnostic Departments in 4 Medical Colleges for the Andhra Pradesh Ministry of Health on behalf of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Dr. Kailash Somani
Advisory Consultant - Medical College Campus
Dr Kailash Somani did M.B.B.S in 1972 and masters in Pharmacology in 1977 from RNT Medical college Udaipur. Joined teaching Profession in 1975 and left job as professor of Pharmacology in 2007.Apart from medical profession due to his keen interest in construction and planning he constructed more than 400,000 sq feet area commercial and institutional .He is now full time consultant for teaching hospital and medical colleges. He has set up medical colleges from concept to MCI inspection ( planning ,equipments, documentation and make functional ) .
